It snuck right by us.

November 5th was the official launch of Blastoff. Yep, the front doors are now open, anyone can join from the front of the blastoffnetwork.com website.

In all fairness, they did say that Pre-Paid Legal members would get 2 weeks, which ended on that day. However since they didn’t tell us which day by email, video, nor any other type of warning whatsoever, it was extremely confusing in light of the fact that our “start” date was delayed.

Note to CEO Rodgers: Any time you don’t communicate, people will feel like this.

Late last night I was reading about the new partnership program for blastoff (so businesses can sign up like Pizza Hut did) on blastoffnetwork.com and discovered that the main page join button now works.

I went in the Blastoff forums searching for answers and all I found was CEO Rodgers saying this on Halloween:

…We are launching to the public on November 5th. If you would like to join before then you can sign up under one of our pre-launch members here in the forum.

Thanks!
Bill

Arrgh. So this tells me that they weren’t exactly hiding the fact, per se, but they weren’t going out of their way to publicize it. Oh well. At least they gave us our two weeks as promised.

The Good News for You:

Although this sounds like the end of an enlightened period where you had an added advantage, it’s not all bad news. There is a way that you can make this work to your advantage.

People simply aren’t likely to be stopping by Blastoffnetwork.com. Why visit when not referred by someone else? Sure, a few will, but mainly people click through links and wind up on member pages, not the main domain name.

But since many people will feel that “the competition” is now in effect, they will stop promoting. Take my word for it, I have been an affiliate for many product launches, and there is a mentality out there amoung promoters in general that goes something like this; “Uh-oh, someone bigger than me starts promoting tomorrow; I’d better wrap up my efforts tonight.”

So if 1 bigger player enters the field and hundreds of smaller promoters just quit at that point, the net effect is that whomever gives it a try at that point will have much lesser competition overall.

So, I say it once again; now is a great time to promote and build your downline! Those that give up can never succeed, while those that take advantage of such situations always will.

So far few people fully understand the exact revenue share model for Blastoff earnings, and of course how they came up with it exactly. Blastoff doesn’t make it easy, saying not much more than:

Generally, your reward will range between 0.042% and 1.5% of every sale (before taxes and shipping and handling charges) generated within 10 (or 20) levels of your network. Remember: You are on Level 0 of your network and will get the cash-back reward specified under the merchant icon for your personal purchases in your Blastoff Mall or Travel portal.

To get an idea of your reward potential from a Mall or Travel purchase:

Choose one of the merchants that you or your friends shop often and estimate the total from a typical purchase (without shipping, handling, and taxes included).

Divide that merchant’s cash-back reward by three.

Divide the new amount by 10 or 20 (for each level in your network).

Multiply this with the purchase total (if it is a percentage-based reward).

The result is an example of the type of income you can expect every time anyone within the first 10 or 20 levels of your network makes a similar purchase from their Blastoff Mall or Travel portal. Given the potential size of your network, even the small amounts can add up quickly.

Many people find this rule of thumb confusing, and the most common question I hear about it is “Why do we Divide that merchant’s cash-back reward by three?” Some people mistake the 1/3rd for our revenue share, but in fact I have found that Blastoff generously is giving us 1/2 of the remaining money after the Cash-Back proceeds are taken out, not just 1/3rd.

After some research, I’ve found out the actual answer to the question above. It is a bit complicated though, so bear with me; I’ve even made some charts and graphs for you.

It starts in the major Affiliate Marketplaces like Commission Junction and Linkshare. Setting aside the cell phone, Direct TV, and other special deals that Blastoff is selling for us through our Blastoff Malls, (these have their own, separate commission schedule) all Blastoff Mall merchants first place their stores online at these huge affiliate marketplaces.

Let’s take the women’s clothing retailer Avenue for example. You can see that in the Blastoff Mall, Avenue offers 3% cash back to the owner of that mall who shopped in it. (We’ll just call them the “shopper” for simplicity, which assumes all shoppers own their own Blastoff portal and are shopping in it.)

I logged into my Linkshare account recently and found Avenue listed there for a 5% commission. Clearly, 3% is less than 5%, so that explains how Blastoff makes its share of the money.

The more I dug and looked at other affiliates in these marketplaces, the more I realized that Blastoff always split the commissions earned at each merchant 60%/40%. Specifically, 60% of that 5% commission goes towards Cash Back purchases, every time. (60% of 5% equals 3% of the overall purchase.)

Meanwhile, the other 40% (overall 2% in this example) gets split EVENLY between Blastoff themselves and the 10 or 20 blastoff members, depending on if you are a PPL member or not. As you can see in the following chart, there is much more to this story than Blastoff publishes:

As you can see, the 3% in your Blastoff Mall is really just 60% of what the merchant’s official affiliate program offers (which is 5% in this example).

If purchased through your downline members mall, (on any level) you’ll earn a portion of the remaining 2% because the big cash-back portion (the 3%) always goes directly to the owner of the Mall. (Otherwise, there would be no incentive to join for most people.) Now, the question becomes how much of the 2% will I earn?

Most people reading this might be thinking right now: “Why would I ever care about such a tiny amount? Well, because in networks the size of 10 and 20 levels deep, that very easily becomes the largest part of your earnings. I’d much rather earn a small percentage of millions of sales daily than simply 3% of my own cash back. This is the only reason I joined Blastoff, in fact.

Anyway, back to the ‘divide by 3 mystery.’

This rule of thumb Blastoff made up makes sense once you know about the original affiliate program commission. Half of Blastoff’s share paid to us is always a third of the Cash-Back percentage.

You can easily see in the chart below how they arrive at 1/3rd. I pulled the current affiliate commission rates for 23 different merchants right out of their original marketplaces, where Blastoff gets them. Clearly, the Blastoff Mall Cash-Back percentage rate always equals 60% of the Affiliate commission (rounded to whole percentage), every time.

- Click to Open! - The Blastoff Revenue Share Chart

So the 1/3rd, (or 33.33% in decimal) that Blastoff would have us divide by happens to equal half of the remainder of 60% (half of 40%) of the original affiliate commission.

Let’s take our Avenue example again, which originally paid 5% (Column A), and is listed in the Blastoff Mall at 3% (Column C). Of that 5%, the 40% NOT going to Cash Back is 2% (Column D). That 2% is split in half (Column E), equally between Blastoff and people in that member’s network. In other words, 1% goes to Blastoff and 1% is split upline, 10 or 20 ways.

As you can see, 1% is actually the 1/3rd (illustrated by Column F) of the 3%. Follow the chart above and you will see that it works out this way every time for every affiliate program!

Recently Blastoff Network CEO William Rodgers was put between a rock and a hardplace when he was forced to delay the exclusive PPL pre-launch date ten days, but Pizza Hut would not delay their launch schedule.

The end result is that many PPL members feel that they were promised 14 days, but only delivered 5 days of pre-launch exclusivity. Now Pizza Hut is blasting out web ads, and worse, pizza-top box flyers to all of their customers.

I couldn’t confirm any of this in my earlier post about Pizza Hut, that is, until now. Yesterday, CEO Rodgers, now out of the hospital after having a kidney stone removed, responded to concerns on the Blastoff internal help forum about exactly this issue:

The Pizza Hut launch was a tricky issue for us. When we postponed the PPL launch the 2nd time we were able to push our other marketing partners as well as our own public launch back to accommodate the the PPL 2 week exclusive. Unfortunately we were told by Pizza Hut that they already had print ads that were in cycle that could not be stopped. We immediately informed PPL of this and have agreed to run additional PPL Business Opportunity advertisements on all Blastoff Home Pages as a concession.

So, the questions now become for PPL members; are these PPL BizOpp ads worth it? How many more, and do they even convert well?

The 5 days we received to exclusively promote was, in all honesty, enough to send out invites to all of our existing prospects. Even with the email invite system issues during the first few days.

The real thing that we PPL members gave up is about 9 days of reaching out to new prospects. Time we could have used to pass out flyers & cards, place ads online and in newsletters, and so forth.

For those who would not have spent money and considerable time to gain more downline members, the result is very positive for you. You’re going to get more online exposure than ever before now, and you have lost nothing because you admittedly would not have used that extra 9 days to your advantage.

It’s only those of us who are actively promoting Blastoff in many different ways that were wronged. Hopefully Mr. Rodgers can see this, the fact that this snafu has taken away from the people who are working the hardest for him.

I, for one, hold out hope that the extra PPL bizopp banner displays across all Blastoff pages will help bring in enough new PPL downline members for it to be worth our loss. It would be very nice to hear the number of extra displays, of course.

Blastoff is still the most awesome income opportunity of our day and I wouldn’t trade my blastoff page for any other home page online. I have faith that this little hiccup will turn out well for us in the end, and that Mr. Rodgers will work further to set things right.

It’s been an eventful morning, Blastoff fans.

When I woke up I noticed that the Blastoff webpage is finally offering the Polyphonic Spree album download that they promised, (just log in and the download is under your profile picture) but I spent so much time jamming to those groovy tunes that I forgot to go to the Pizza Hut website for a couple of hours until just now.

Oops.

Pizza hut has a not-too-subtle Blastoff ad on their main page. No visitor could miss it.

It is basically a huge Christmas present being opened, and inside they are giving you Blastoff as a present… Through their own Pizza-Hut referral link, of course! (Wow, the PPL folks must feel backstabbed by this!)

So the game is on. Pizza hut has raised the stakes for our promotional efforts.

On the one hand, they are competing with all of us existing Blastoff members to gain downline. There’s no way around that, but of course things could be worse… The BlastoffNetwork.com page itself is still not taking members yet. We simply have to step up the game to compete with their huge customer base of, pretty much, 200 Million people. :p

On the other hand, according to Alexa.com, the Blastoffnetwork.com website has shot way up above their website, and is now more popular. It’s not like any one chain’s website could make that much of a difference.

It’s those flyers that I spoke of yesterday that will generate the extra traffic to their website… That’s what your real competition is… But it also works as Branding for you too. (Which works towards your advantage.)

What does this mean to you exactly?

Let’s say you’ve never heard of Blastoff before, you’re eating a pizza at home or at the office, and you see a pizza-box-top flyer in with, or instead of the coupons that normally come with your pizza.

You’re likely to see the Blastoff logo, perhaps even read a line or two about a fun, free, way to earn cash back online, and it will at least tell you to visit Pizzahut.com to get your free account.

Do you actually visit Pizzahut.com for it? Or do you just remember the name Blastoff? (Logos stick in one’s memory better than words alone.) Likely, most people will NOT visit pizzahut.com, but a large percentage of those that do are obviously signing up under them.

The people who see the Blastoff logo but fail to visit pizzahut.com are the majority, and they have just been “Branded” as easy targets for you.

This is admittedly worse than the picture I painted yesterday, because it’s the Pizza Hut domain that they are sending them to first, not blastoffnetwork.com, but the overall effect will be the same; Most people getting these box-top flyers will be conditioned for you to open your email invite more easily.

So now is the time to make your push… They’ve been warmed up for you.

More specifically, as soon as you feel people have had the time to eat some Pizza, THAT is the time to send your email invites.

Better news on the horizon:

I’ve had many of my downline members write in in the last 48 hours asking for specific promotional tips or instructions. I’ve decided to go even further than just blogging about some strategies… I’m going to put together a real set of promotional tools for everyone in my downline to use, and post it here on this domain, somewhere.

I won’t go into detail yet, because I just decided this last night, but I will say that it is going to be VERY helpful, easy to understand, and powerful. I have run my own Clickbank affiliate programs before and I know what it takes to really help a team promote something… This will not be a 2nd-rate effort!

So stay tuned for news on that. It is my hope to have some great news about that soon, so you’ll collectively be able to whip Pizza Hut’s buttocks in terms of # of signups!

Stay tuned!

Many of you reading this post are probably feeling that Pizza Hut’s huge, Nation-wide Pizza Box-top Flyer push this Tuesday is competition for us. I’m not completely convinced of this fact yet. Here is the notification I got from PPL HQ in an email about it:

Finally, Blastoff! has a marketing arrangement with Pizza Hut
(box top fliers) that will begin on Tuesday, October 27. We don’t
view this as competing with our approach, but wanted the field to
be aware.

We don’t know what the deal between Pizza Hut and Blastoff is… However, this doesn’t appear to me that Pizza Hut is putting their own referral link on those flyers.

They may still, but I’m leaning towards not.

You see, it’s obvious that Pizza Hut did not move their launch date when Blastoff delayed the 2-week exclusive window for all PPL associates. We were supposed to be able to push Blastoff on the 12th, not the 22nd originally, and then Blastoff delayed the launch citing spam concerns.

Since the 27th is just 1 day after that 2 week window, it would appear that Pizza Hut had already printed their flyers by the time Blastoff delayed the launch date.

If you were a corporation that just printed hundreds of millions of flyers, and someone called you asking to change the date… Well, you get the picture; Pizza Hut very likely said no, they are going ahead on schedule.

But if the PPL (Not Blastoff, PPL) execs say that they “don’t view [Pizza Hut] as competing with our approach,” then there is one other possibility.

It COULD be a BRANDING campaign, only.

You know, like huge corporations (including Pizza Hut ) already do for themselves, just advertise a Logo without ever mentioning where to go in order to purchase it. (Or in this case, which Blastoff page to go and sign up.)

If Pizza hut is doing Branding for Blastoff on Tuesday, then the one who will benefit is YOU.

Pizza Hut’s coverage is about 200 MILLION customers. At least.

Assuming that this campaign lasts long enough for all of their regular customers to get at least one pizza during it, then that’s pretty much 200 Million people who will suddenly recognize Blastoff’s logo, and link it in their head with a big Corporation like Pizza Hut. (At the very least. Branding campaigns often lead to google searches, too.)

So when your cousin Bob gets your Blastoff invite a day or three after eating some pizza, he’ll KNOW that Blastoff isn’t some fly-by-night fad and probably be curious enough to click through right then and there.

Branding is Exactly what you need to get people to open your invites. USE THIS and send out invites after people get a chance to eat some pizza! (I’m guessing Wednesday afternoon or after dinner… But anytime after that for weeks is great too!)

And what if Pizza Hut’s Campaign DOES compete?

That’s STILL great news… Think about it this way: When you’ve got pizza grease dripping down to your elbows, are you likely to jump online and go to the blastoff site right then?

Of course not. NO ONE will respond to a flyer immediately. Not a single person. A few will take the flyer with them and try it later, but the vast, vast majority of them who want to check out blastoff from these flyers will JUST REMEMBER THE DOMAIN NAME. Or try to.

That’s just how the web works. People don’t like remembering long urls, we want to remember and go to coolsite.com every time.

They’ll remember Blastoffnetwork.com if they are able to remember anything, and that won’t let them sign up yet.

If you sent them an email invite by or soon after this point though, they’ll remember that… And BOOM, you’ve got downline.

It’s almost 10 pm here, 10 hours after the launch and I can’t remember working so hard in one day in a long time.

I can tell that not only was the Blastoff server having issues, but many other, non-related sites like Twitter, Alexa, Facebook, and even this blog were all receiving so much traffic that our systems were all running slow!

Here is what Blastoff’s CEO had to say about it tonight:

Have any of you ever seen a movie where someone hits an oil well that comes in so big that the rig blows and oil spews in the air? Well that’s what happened today – we hit the mother load.

At 12:00 noon today we had so much traffic that a load balancer (a piece of equipment that connects our website to multiple data centers) crashed. I am happy to say that this equipment has now been replaced and is working fine. When this happened, our database server was taxed pretty hard which has created some performance issues on the site.

At this point the majority of the database issues are under control and Blastoff sites are going live all over America – we expect to be back on all cylinders very soon.

We have heard from a lot of you worrying that some people’s invites might be going out while other’s are not. Because of this, the invites are being held until everyone’s site is back online. You can go ahead and upload your contacts but they will not be sent until everyone’s site is up and running properly. We are anticipating this happening by sometime later this evening.

Thanks,
Bill Rodgers

I hope things normalize over the night and they can get all this backlogged traffic finally served… In fact, I would really just be happy to be able to get into my Blastoff portal tomorrow and see my downline! (Surely one or two of you signed up from here, right?

Anyway, if you haven’t been able yet to have any fun with your own Blastoff account, just hang in there… I was using mine as my home page every day for weeks now and it ran smooth as silk every time. They’ll get this traffic issue worked out soon and you’ll be changing your surfing habits in a big way.

Goodnight for now, … Sleep well deserved…

Blastoff has blasted off! (At least for the PPL Pre-Launch.)

…Wow, this is a huge, huge, huge launch nevertheless! If you attempt to go and sign up now you will find that the servers are very, very slow, and sometimes they drop you out entirely.

I happen to know that they have many huge tower servers in Dallas for this launch, with multiple backbone connections to their servers, so this is pretty unprecidented.

The CEO of Blastoff just tweeted recently:

We are experiencing amazingly high traffic right now. Hold tight – we will be running on all cylinders soon!

…So I guess there is nothing we can do but wait.

-Or is there?

I’ve just updated my blog a bit here today. Notice anything different? (Feel free to let me know what you think of the graphics, below.)

Be sure to read that 14-page report over to the right, titled “Blastoff Your Bank Account.” It’s a free, quick read that I actually worked many days on for you. I hope you enjoy it, and can read it now during your Blastoff-Server Downtime.

It’s filled with all of the ways you can earn more $$$ with Blastoff… Once the servers return to full speed, that is.

Enjoy it, and feel free to re-brand it for your own downline-building use if you would like.

Yes, they literally meant it when they said that the Launch day was any day now… Today at 2:17pm Central Time PPL Marketing Services sent out a big Blastoff Launch (for PPL members) is officially at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, October 22nd. (The day after tomorrow.)

Launch for Blastoff! is scheduled for 12 noon CT on Thursday, October 22.

At this time the Invitation link will become available and you can begin
inviting non-PPL associates to join Blastoff!

They went on to say that Pizza Hut is sending out their Box-Top flyers on October 27th:

…Blastoff! has a marketing arrangement with Pizza Hut (box top fliers) that will begin on Tuesday, October 27. We don’t view this as competing with our approach, but wanted the field to
be aware.

I, for one, seriously doubt that this is not competing with PPL associates. Unless it is strictly a Branding campaign… (Like billboards that advertise Coke, but not where to buy any Coke.) But then obviously Pizza Hut must want something in return for all of this free advertising, right?

It is clear by their timing (October 27th was supposed to be the date that PPL’s official pre-launch exclusivity period came to an end and the rest of the world could promote freely) that Pizza Hut pre-printed it’s box-top flyers and wasn’t willing to budge their launch date when Blastoff said “oh wait, we’ve got spam issues.’

The Bad News:

So what this means is that PPL members no longer have 2 weeks of exclusive Blastoff push time. Even if they don’t allow anyone else to sign up outside of the PPL tree, surely they gave Pizza Hut a way to allow sign-ups starting on the 27th. So no more exclusivity for PPL than 5 days.

Oh yeah, and likely the Dallas Cowboys and the United Way, too. Those two other organizations both had similar agreements to Pizza Hut’s.

The Good News:

As a PPL associate I was mad when I first heard about this, but there is a silver lining… Having Pizza Hut promote Blastoff (and likely the other two also) is very good for Branding purposes… When someone receives an email from me about Blastoff there will be a higher chance they’ll click through and accept the invitation if they’ve already heard from Pizza Hut or somwhere else about it first.

Branding will give Blastoff legitimacy, and that will great help conversions. Back in the first blastoffnetwork.com film (the 5+ minute one with the guy standing there giving the tour) they said that PPC traffic converted 1 in every 4 people, or 25%. This kind of branding could take that number up to 50% or better!

So the end result is that our window of benefit is smaller, but for the period between October 27th and November 5th, (the end of the NEW PPL exclusivity window) PPL members will enjoy an awesome acceptance rate. After that they’ll still be pretty good, although the competition will go up faster so it will come down dramatically over the next few months.

Timing will mean everything with the Blastoff launch. Plan out all of your promotions in advance!!

When many people hear about Blastoff for the first time, especially during October and November 2009, they will hear about it from many different sources all at once, all ceaselessly hyping it to the point where it sounds unreasonable.

I know how this can turn some people off; I too was new to such offers once and a complete newbie at money-making offers online.

So I decided that today I’d write about the actual, factual evidence for Blastoff, not just more hype. (Like I admit you may find elsewhere on this blog.)

So if you came here today looking for hard facts and real answers about what blastoff is and if it is worth your time, read on… You can even turn off your hype-scanners and filters for the duration of this page.

Fact you need to understand #1: Blastoff serves different roles for different people.

Some people, namely the people you heard all of the hype from, are looking to make money with blastoff, building a ‘business’ by building their downline inside Blastoff. They want you to join Blastoff from their email or by going to their page, because if you do, they make a tiny percentage of the cash you spend on online purchases in Blastoff ever after.

Other people, and this really should include everyone online, should enjoy setting Blastoff as their homepage (portal page) because it offers so much more than any home pages before it. For instance, the My.Yahoo.com, Microsoft Live, AOL, and Google home pages all offer neat widgets and gadgets like the ability to set backgrounds, choose the news feeds that interest them, see a quick-view of local weather, and some even show a preview of their email. Blastoff goes way beyond this by letting you watch TV and videos, Listen to internet radio, play video games, and best yet, chat with your friends through social networks like Twitter, Facebook, and Flickr.

Still other people want the Cash-Back shopping. Blastoff has a “Mall” area on your page there that includes the top 400 Online Merchants and is growing daily. (Yes, WalMart, Starbucks, Sears, iTunes, they are mostly all there already.) So if you are a Blastoff member and shop online in your own page’s “mall,” you not only get exclusive shopping deals, but you make a percentage of the sale back in the form of a check from Blastoff each month. It can be quite addictive.

Fact you need to understand #2: Blastoff makes it all too easy to spread the word.

The one thing that Facebook did that allowed it to generate 100 Million Users in 9 months flat was their innovative contact-importing technology. They gave new members a way to upload their existing friends and contacts and send out invites to them all quickly and without a lot of thought.

Facebook did a great job, of course, but Blastoff has taken this technology and run with it much further. Where Facebook was limited to 5 (I believe, there may be more now) ways to import your contacts, (such as from your outlook software, your hotmail account, and so on) Blastoff has at least 10 different sources, including a way to simply upload a simple spreadsheet with any email addresses you happen to have lying around.

This is the reason why your inbox has filled up with this email:

Email from Blastoff sent to the world in Oct/Nov 09

It’s just too darn easy to send it.

Keep in mind that there are only 220 Internet users in the world today. Facebook invited 100 million in 9 months, and those are just the ones who ACCEPTED these invites… Surely a billion or three invites went out during that timeframe.

Now Blastoff makes it twice or three times easier to send out invites, so it is likely that all 220 Million internet users will receive this email at least once in the first 9 months since Blastoff’s blast off in October 09.

Fact you need to understand #3: Blastoff pays people to spread the word, too.

If that weren’t enough reason for your inbox to fill up with Blastoff emails, here is the mother of all incentives: Unlike Facebook, Blastoff additionally pays people, in the form of downline earnings, to send out those invites! I cannot imagine what it would have been like if facebook had paid users for sending out invites. Surely the additional incentive would have driven them all the way to 220 million in the same amount of time.

Fact you need to understand #4: Blastoff additionally secured 4 big Corporate backers to advertise it.

As if the viral invites system wasn’t good enough, Blastoff has arranged for 4 giant corporations to push Blastoff to their customers in November 2009 as well. Pre-Paid Legal, (with its’ 100,000+ associates, all who have lists of prospective clients) the United Way, the Dallas Cowboys, and Pizza Hut will all be promoting Blastoff directly too.

They have not made it public why they chose these particular four Corporations, or what the terms of those arrangements are. However it is pretty obvious that Pizza, Charity, Football, and Legal services serve different demographics of the world and will therefore do a great job together of spreading Blastoff to the most people possible.

So if you take facts 1-4 together, it’s easy to see now why your inbox is completely stuffed with those Blastoff emails.

Fact you need to understand #5: What’s In It For Blastoff…

Most people searching for the truth will start with this question, but I figured I’ll end with it since the ramifications are so large.

Normally you wouldn’t think that a little 1-page website would have such huge aspirations, but it is impossible to escape the conclusion that Blastoff is out to become the #1 website online, beating out Google.com and the other most-visited websites on the web.

Thankfully there appears to be nothing evil about this plan, they just want to have the best online real estate, like Donald Trump would like to own the world’s best hotels. In Blastoff’s case, they won’t be collecting rent, however, they will get paid in two ways:

1. That big, honking ad banner on the upper-right hand side of every Blastoff page. Make no mistake, this 300 x 250 pixel box is about to be the very most expensive ad block online, bar none. It will be shown to the largest amount of people online, in and out every day, and better yet, when they first open their web browser, not at the end of their browsing session when they are tired and unresponsive. I can only dream about what kind of revenue they will generate selling out that ad space… Surely enough to make them very successful.

2. Their share of the Mall purchases. All of the stores in the Blastoff mall are affiliate programs on some huge affiliate network out there somewhere. These affiliate programs each pay their affiliates a little higher percentage than what Blastoff knocks off in it’ Cash-Back and Downline Earnings offerings.

For instance, let’s say Sears.com is in your Mall with a 2% cash back offering. That likely means that you could go find the affiliate program online in an affiliate community like Linkshare.com or Commission Junction for a bit higher, like 4%. What blastoff is doing is giving you, the member whose mall it was purchased from, half of their affiliate earnings in the form of a cash-back check after a month, and then deducts a little more (such as another 1%) for your referrers, and keeps a percent for themselves. Not a bad deal.

I know what you are thinking; yes, you could bypass them and join the affiliate program yourself to get the whole 4% commission, but trust me, it’s not easy. First of all, they have rules against buying from your own link, and they track IP addresses to make sure you don’t. Secondly, your website has to apply to these sites, and bigger stores like Sears don’t want piddly little 10-people-a-day websites selling for them. Finally, it’s just a lot of work to find and post all the right links before buying through them. Most feel it’s not worth the trouble.

But for Blastoff to get 1% of a commission from 200 Million people’s portals? For EVERYTHING they shop online for? Wow… They may make a billion a year in profit from that alone. Good thinking, Blastoff!

So all in all, what you really need to know about Blastoff is that they are providing a few services for free that everyone will likely be using in the near future. In return, they hope you buy through their web pages and click on their ads, which is exactly the same business model Google enjoys. Everything so far appears on the level, and they do appear to be completely unstoppable. If you own Google’s stock, now might be a good time to consider dumping some. Their ad space is about to become less valuable.

Take special note of the short film at 4:25 where he shows the embedded film for wordpress & facebook widgets… It’s by far the best recruitment tool yet!

Also, look at that awesome landing page (at 3:25 in this video) that people will be landing on after you send them invites… Wow, very good stuff!

Other notable points taken from this update film:

They estimate between 25 and 50 Million emails going out on the launch day, which is why they had to set back the launch. (0:20)

Even before Pre-Launch, the BlastoffNetwork.com domain is in the top 2000 most-visited websites already. (1:15) Actually, I see it at about 1,877 in alexa already!

3 Spam Compliance Tips to help your email marketing. (1:50)

The MAIL services that you’ll be able to import contacts from include Google accounts, Hotmail, Yahoo mail, Outlook .csv exports, any vCard export, and even your own manual entry spreadsheets. (3:03)

The contact system is very automated, so if you load up more than 250 invites, it will automatically pull down the next invite on the list to send to once an existing invite has accepted your invite! (3:50)

There will be many other Widget-type marketing tools for blogs and social networking sites to help you recruit Blastoff downline members (4:00)

Merchants accepted to blastoff are now over 400! (4:42)

The Band behind all of this cool Blastoff music (Polyphonic Spree) is giving all blastoff members a free album download. (5:02)

This was a really exciting update, I hope they let me keep the film here forever. Even though there was a launch delay this update keeps pulses high and expectations soaring!
